Meet the Executive Board


Justin Doddie: President

Justin is a senior marketing major at MSU. He has completed two internships in data analytics and would love to work in the analytics department of an NHL team.

This is Justin’s third year on E-Board; he served as Treasurer his sophomore year year and is currently serving in his second year as President.

His favorite moments as a Spartan are going to Indianapolis for the Final Four and Big Ten Championship Game in the same year (2015).

Tyler Durbin: Vice President

Tyler is a senior Management major and Sports Business Management minor.  He is currently an intern at the Greater Lansing Sports Authority and has been a Resident Assistant on campus for two years.  His dream job is to be an athletic director for a D1 university.

This is Tyler’s second year on E-Board. He previously served as Professional Development Chair last year.

His favorite MSU sports moment was walking through Ann Arbor after the Wolverines had trouble with the snap in 2015.

Julie Kalt: Marketing and Media Chair

Julie is a junior Hospitality Business major and Sports Business Management minor.  She recently completed an internship with the Aberdeen Ironbirds and dreams of working as an Event Coordinator for a professional sports team or ESPN.

Julie stays busy by attending Michigan State almost every baseball, basketball, football and hockey home games. One of her goals is to visit every MLB stadium before she graduates from MSU. This is her second year on E-Board as Media and Marketing Chair.

Julie’s favorite Spartan Moment is going to the Izzone Campout and meeting the players and Coach Izzo.

Abby Miller: Recruitment Chair

Abby is a junior Accounting major within Michigan State’s Eli Broad College of Business. She is currently working towards an internship for this upcoming summer in hopes to work for Ernst&Young, one of The Big Four accounting firms.

Although Abby is an accounting major, her love for sports brought her into FLISE three years ago. This year is the start of her second serving on E-Board as Recruitment Chair. Through FLISE, Abby has gained leadership experience in a team-based setting, and effective communication skills with professionals in the sports industry.

Abby’s favorite spartan moment was watching the 2015 Michigan vs Michigan State football game where Michigan State scored to win on the very last play of the game.

anna1.jpgAnna Dabaldo: Professional Development Chair

Anna is a sophomore business major with the Sports Business Management minor. She has held a few internships already, but the most memorable was this summer working for the Atlanta Sports Council within the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Here, Anna worked with the Atlanta Football Host Committee to bring the College Football Playoffs to Atlanta, and  helped plan and work the Atlanta Sports Awards.

This is Anna’s first year on E-Board.  As Professional Development Chair, she plans on using her network to bring some great speakers to FLISE.

Her favorite moment as a Spartan was attending her first home football game in the fall of her freshman year.

Zach VanNieulande: Professional Development

Zachary is a senior marketing major. He is currently interning with the Greater Lansing Sports Authority and is going to seek his Masters in Marketing Research at MSU upon graduating in the fall from undergrad.

He has been a member of FLISE since the fall of 2016, currently serves as an Izzone section leader, and covers MSU sports and pro sports for Impact WDBM. His favorite MSU sports memory was watching the Spartans defeat the Fighting Irish in person at Notre Dame Stadium last year.

His dream job is to become a sports marketing consultant for professional franchises.

desDesireé Melfi: Advisor

Desireé serves as the Faculty Advisor for FLISE. She is also the Communications Manager for Undergraduate Entrepreneurship and Innovation, overseeing the overarching strategy and execution of the program’s communications, including social, digital and print media. An impassioned student advocate, Desireé promotes undergraduate student academic achievements and career successes. Her marketing, sales, digital design and photography skills have been honed by her work in higher education as well as the sports and entertainment industries. A proud Spartan to the core, Desireé earned both her degrees from Michigan State: A Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design and Photography, in 2006, and, most recently, her Master of Arts in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education.

She has had many favorite Spartan moments over the years from incredible MSU wins in football to deep runs in the Big Dance in March. The moment that continues to stand out is watching the clock tick down in Pasadena and her Spartans winning the 100th Rose Bowl.
